The UC Davis Air Quality Research Center (AQRC) is a leading interdisciplinary center that brings together scientists, engineers, policy experts, and community stakeholders to address pressing air quality and atmospheric issues. Based at the University of California, Davis, the AQRC conducts cutting-edge research, supports decision-making through data and policy analysis, and convenes global conversations to improve air quality and public health.
Since its founding, AQRC has been at the forefront of translating air quality science into real-world solutions, whether through technical innovation, public engagement, or international collaboration. The center is known for its leadership in sensor technology, wildfire smoke and health studies, environmental justice, and air pollution policy analysis.
In addition to research, AQRC organizes conferences and symposiums around the world, delivering timely, relevant content tailored to diverse audiences and emerging data trends. Its portfolio includes the internationally recognized Air Sensors International Conference (ASIC) and regional initiatives across the Global South to democratize access to air quality data and technology.

Dr. Tony Wexler
AQRC Director
Anthony Wexler is a UC Davis Distinguished Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Land, Air and Water Resources. He is the founder and Chief Technology Officer of EV Everywhere. At UC Davis, he is director and founder of the Air Quality Research Center, as well as the founder of the Climate Adaptation Research Center.
Professor Wexler’s research focuses on measuring and modeling the atmospheric dynamics and health effects of air pollution. Members of Dr. Wexler’s laboratory are developing new instruments for measuring air pollution and meteorology related to air pollution transport, new mathematical techniques for modeling air pollution dynamics and thermodynamics, and new exposure paradigms for understanding the neurological and cardiopulmonary health effects of air pollution. The Air Quality Research Center operates the IMPROVE air monitoring network for the National Parks Service and performs chemical analysis for the Chemical Speciation Network for the Environmental Protection Agency.
